Turn the tables

It seems that no matter the level of government they can't wait to stick there nose into our business whether it be the Federal level out our local city government. Over the last year or two the city and county governments have taken it upon themselves to start to enforce local code enforcement which involves us the tax payer paying someone to drive around in truck and write tickets to people who don't mow their laws and such. I believe this to be asinine. I personally choose to keep the lawn mowed and try to tame the devils flower the dandelion however it should not be forced upon me by government. The circumstances very from person to person, perhaps they are elderly, ill or they are just plain lazy. Bottom line is that if it is their property they should be able to do whatever they please. Ezra Taft Benson, former Secretary of Agriculture, said, "the important thing to keep in mind is that the people who have created their government can give to that government only such powers as they, themselves, have in the first place. Obviously, they cannot give that which they do not possess." Therefore I say we turn the tables. Have you drove a vehicle is West Valley City lately? My hell there is a pot hole or a bump every twenty feet! Lets all start sending in tickets to West Valley City hall until they wake up and take care of their responsibility's!! each time they receive a ticket they will have thirty days to fix the problem or a fine of $500.00 dollars will be imposed payable to the issuer of the ticket so that they can save the money for the inevitable vehicle repair. Sounds like a dandy of an idea to big Sky. If the city don't like that idea then perhaps they should butt out, this is the United States of America and the individual that owns the property should have the right to take care of it as they see fit!

I can not tell you how much I agree! SOOOO infuriating.

I also do not think that as the "Code Enforcement" they have any right what so ever to go into my fenced back yard to determine if I have or have not done anything wrong! ;(

I'm having my first experience with a home owners association here in our new neighborhood. A couple weeks ago my father in law ran over the mailbox. The mailbox looks OK (it looks better than his car). About a week later I get a letter from the friendly HOA telling me I have 10 days to replace the lettering on the mailbox(a few of the numbers are scratched). I find it creepy that someone is watching so closely. And I keep forgetting to change it, I may end up in jail.
